Becky Morgan Endorses Larry Aceves in SPI Race
Former Senator Joins More than 500 Front Line Educators in Supporting Aceves
SACRAMENTO – Larry Aceves has been endorsed by retired State Senator Rebecca (Becky) Morgan in his bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Morgan is president of the Morgan Family Foundation; a commissioner on the Commission on the 21st Century Economy; and a former president and CEO of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley. She also represented the Silicon Valley as a California State Senator for nine years.
"As a local school superintendent for 15 years and a teacher before that, Larry Aceves made a difference in the lives of thousands of our students of very diverse backgrounds," said retired Senator Becky Morgan. "He is by far the most experienced and focused candidate for state Superintendent of Schools and I’m proud to support his campaign."
From 1980 to 1984, Morgan served as a supervisor on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and, from 1978 to 1980, she was assistant vice president at Bank of America. Morgan was also a teacher from 1960 to 1962. She joins over 500 teachers, principals, superintendents and administrators already supporting Larry for office.

SACRAMENTO – Principals and superintendents from school districts across California have joined with the more than 500 education leaders who have endorsed Larry Aceves in his bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
In addition to the many teachers, principals, superintendents and administrators across the state, Aceves has also gained the endorsement of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
“At a time when the public’s view of the Legislature is at an all-time low, it is refreshing to see a candidate like Larry Aceves who brings over 30 years of real-world education experience to this job. He is clearly the most qualified candidate in the race,” said Bob Wells, Executive Director of ACSA.
Larry Aceves began his career as a bilingual kindergarten teacher in 1974 and from there became a principal in 1979. Aceves also has proven experience as a Superintendent, serving two school districts from 1991 to 2006. Early polling shows Aceves with a lead and 60 percent of likely 2010 voters say they are more likely to support a candidate who has served as a school superintendent.
